To correct them, it was decided to introduce numerous modifications into them, which led to the creation, among others, of the Magach 6 tank. At that time, these were modern machines, but the experience of the Israeli army during the Yom Kippur War (1973) showed that these machines had shortcomings. In the 1960s, the Israeli army began to equip its armored forces with the new M48 tanks, imported mainly from the USA, and from 1970 - the M60 Patton. Armament consisted of one 105-mm gun, two 7.62-mm and 12.7-mm Browning machine guns and a 60-mm light mortar. The first machines of this type appeared in service in the mid-1970s.
